welcome to my world
If the Earth
were only a few feet in
diameter, floating a few feet above
a field somewhere, people would come
from everywhere to marvel at it. People would
walk around it marveling at its big pools of water,
its little pools and the water flowing between the pools.
People would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding
it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would
marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the
ball, and at the creatures in the water.
The people would declare
it as sacred because
it was the only one, and they would protect
it so that it would not hurt. The ball would be the
greatest wonder known, and people would come to
pray to it, to be healed, to gain knowledge, to know
beauty and to wonder how it could be. People
would love it, and defend it with their lives
because they would somehow know that
their lives, their own roundness, could
be nothing without it. If the
Earth were only a few
feet in diameter.

My thoughts and opinions
change from time to time…
I consider this a necessary consequence of having an open mind.
This weblog is intended to provide a semi-permanent point in
time snapshot and manifestation of the various memes running
around my brain, and as such any thoughts and opinions expressed
within out-of-date posts may not the same, nor even similar,
to those I may hold today.

Eviction
Yesterday while walking towards my apartments, I noticed what looked to be someones things on the front lawn. I was immediately caught off guard by this. Back home, you never see these kinds of things. It takes so much to get someone out of an apartment. As approached, it turned out that my instincts were right. There, sprawled out on the front lawn, was everything these people owned.
My first reaction wasn't a good one, I'll admit. I took some pictures, posted them on Twitter, and had a few laughs.
However, after some thought....I became saddened for the poor folks coming home to a scene like that. And to make matters worse, people were coming by and taking their things. So not only do they have to endure that, they also got half their belongings stolen.
What if this person was just going through a hard time? No arrangements could be made so that they could pay their rent in installments? Did it have to come to that? And from the way the things were placed, you could tell it was just thrown out there. So indignant......so ruthless.
A lady who walked up on the scene shorty after I did said it was bad for property value.
But what about the poor people whose things were thrown out on the front lawn?
I suppose an eviction is an eviction but it really shook me. I guess there's a first time for everything.
